Praise Report

We were finally able to see the dermatologist at Children's hospital today. We received some good news. Trinity does not have Alopecia, as was previously diagnosed. They suspect that she has a very severe fungal infection, similar to a ringworm but on a much broader scale. They did a fungal culture and took some hair samples but we won't get the results for about a month. However, we are starting treatment ASAP because its a long process. All of her symptoms seem to point at this particular condition so they are pretty sure that this is the cause of her tender, itchy scalp and the hair loss. The meds take at least two months to see improvement. The infection is so deep that the hair follicles have really weakened and caused all of the symptoms that Trinity has been experiencing.

We are not certain how Trinity obtained the infection. The doctor said that it could have been from petting someone's pet, touching someone's hand, or even trying on a hat of someone who had the infection. At any rate, we are so thankful that she should start seeing some hair growth within the next couple of months once the infection has cleared up. Thanks for your prayers for our sweet girl.

I exceeded my goal

Okay, as you know, I have gotten back in the saddle on this weight loss journey of mine. I decided that this time around I would make mini goals so that I don't overwhelm myself with the overall big picture. Anyway, I had pledged that I would lose 10 lbs by today, June 28th. I am happy to report that I have exceeded my goal and have lost 12.8 lbs so far. I now weigh 174 lbs. I am so excited! I am well on my way to getting down to that ultimate goal of 145 lbs. So in keeping with the mini goal method, I am committing to lose another 10 lbs by July 31st. Thanks for your support!

Exploring the city

Today we decided to explore the Arts District in downtown Dallas. It was a lot of fun. The girls had a blast. We had lunch at the Plaza, looked out over the city at the Chase Tower Sky Lobby, and walked the arts district looking at all of the neat buildings and sculptures. If you ever get a chance to go out and explore the city, it's pretty neat. We just made up our own little tour. The only cost to us was the parking meter and our lunch. I encourage you to go out and have some fun as a family. Here are a few pics from our day.

Trinity's New Hair

I never thought that I would be buying a wig for my 6 yr. old daughter but we have to just make the best of the situation. We bought Trinity a wig on Friday. It looks really natural and it's so cute. It looks like we had her hair done is spiral curls and it's the perfect length. She loves it! When we were at the store, she was jumping up and down with excitement. It makes her feel really pretty. She asked me if her next wig could have hightlights? Lol! She's a little Diva already. Here's a few shots that I snapped before church today.

People kept coming up to us at church saying how cute Trinity looked and asking who did her hair and how long it took. Unless we told people, nobody knew that she was wearing a wig so that's great! I praise God that we were able to find this one. It really suits her and she just beams with joy when she wears it. She was flinging that hair all around. I told her to settle down so that she doesn't shake all of the curls out.

Prayer Request

If you would be so kind and remember Trinity in your prayers. Some of you may already be aware of this situation but those who aren't let me fill you in on what's going on with her. She has been having a very tender and itchy scalp and has experienced a significant amount of hair loss. The doctor's determined that she has Alopecia, an auto-immune disorder that causes you to lose your hair. We have been going back and forth with insurance and the doctor's office trying to get a referral for her to be seen by a specialist at Children's Medical Center.

The doctor's have to review some clinical paperwork but said that she's at the top of the list for the 1st available appointment since her condition is pretty aggressive. They hope to have things worked out soon. I'm praying that they can see her right away because she's losing hair daily and it's getting difficult to cover up the bald patches, especially since she has such fair skin. It's getting to be very noticeable.

She seems to be doing okay but has started to notice that she's different and has cried a few nights because she doesn't want to lose anymore hair. It's hard when people come up to you ask you what's wrong with your child or just stare at her like she's a freak. Lord, please give us strength!

Thanks for your prayers, Kendi

Making the best of things

Taurus's cousin graduated from Cedar Hill high school last Saturday. It was held downtown at the Dallas Convention Center. Despite arriving on-time, it was standing room only and there was nowhere to sit. After standing about 15 minutes in the aisle, the girls got cranky so we decided to leave. There was no point in waiting around when we couldn't find anyone from his family. There were way too many people and his aunt didn't respond to our calls. We did get to see his cousin seated, awaiting her turn to cross the stage. Anyway, we decided to make the best of things and took some pic with the longhorn statues outside before we left.

Never leave your 2 yr old unattended

I left Madison alone for a few minutes while I was putting dinner in the oven today. I thought she was playing with Trinity. It turns out, she got a hold of some lipstick and decided to put on some make-up like Mommy does. When she looked at herself in the mirror she said, "Madison looks funny". We all laughed and I just had to take some pictures. These are the fun moments that you don't want to forget.
