Has anyone ever heard of SparkPeople? Well, if not, it's this social networking site that encourages healthy living. It has lots of different teams that you can join based on your individual interests. I've joined the site and made a few friends. We help encourage each other as we all strive to lose weight. Anyway, a member of one of the teams that I am on introduced a new challenge. Over the next 8 weeks, we plan to try to lose 5% of our body weight (beginning March 6th). I currently weigh 176.2 lbs so that means that I am challenging myself to lose 8.8 lbs over the next 8 weeks. I think that this is a reasonable goal.
When it comes to my weight loss, I tend to be really goal driven. This new challenge gives me something to strive for. It's a realistic goal and one that I am excited about starting. Who's with me? Have I got any takers out there? Think about it! Figure out how much you currently weigh and calculate 5% of that. I think that it's a pretty realistic way to look at what you're trying to accomplish and it takes a lot of pressure off of you trying to achieve that big goal. I think taking small steps will help me stay on track. How about you?

Happy 6th Birthday Trinity!
On this day, my dear sweet Trinity was born. She is now 6 years old and we couldn't be more proud of her. She is in kindergarten and is advancing very well. You should hear her read.
Last night we celebrated her birthday party at The Plaza of the Americas Ice Garden. She took 8 weeks of ice skating lessons and has gotten pretty good. She wanted to show her moves to her friends. Everyone had a great time! Here are a few pics.

I'm back on track
Well, I weighed myself this morning and I lost 1.6 lbs. My body is getting back into gear. Woo Hoo! I'm on my way back down the right path and I am so grateful for it. Can't wait to see how I do this week. I'm ready and I've regained my motivation. That's the best part. My vision is clear again. I can see the possibilities!

The Truth Hurts
Okay, I said that I was going to be honest with you and myself. So here goes: you know I've been saying that my scale was broke. Well, it turns out that it works just fine. I've weighed myself on three different scales and the truth hurts. I've gained weight. Ugh!! I now weigh 177.8 lbs. I thought that the scale was lying to me when I was really lying to myself. I am so disappointed! Maybe this is the kick in the butt that I need to motivate me to do better. When I weighed previously, I was fasting, which is why my weight was down. I'm not making anymore excuses. I don't want to go back to where I was and I am dangerously close so I must press on and start working my way back down. I kind of gave up on weight watchers but it really worked for me so it looks like I may get back on their plan. I thought that I could just do it on my own with no problem. Boy, was I wrong. So, the saga continues.....

Clown Day
Today was clown day at Madison's preschool. We dressed her up as a clown. She looked so cute. Here are a few pics. There was a clown who made funny ballon shapes. Maddi absolutely loved it. She even kept her wig (which she called her hat) on most of the day.

My artistic little girls
Trinity recently celebrated her 100th day of school. The teachers have been teaching the kids about the number 100 and different ways to count to 100. They had a big party that day and did all sorts of neat things. Each child had to make a project of 100 things. Trinity wanted to make something really cute and girlie so she glued 100 tiny little beads to form a butterfly. It turned out really cute.
Madison is enjoying school too. She totally loves doing arts and crafts. That's one of her favorite parts of the day. She's getting to be quite the little artist, like her big sis. For the 2nd time, she had artwork of the day. Her teachers post the best looking artwork on the wall for everyone to see. She is so proud to show me her artwork on the wall everytime that we enter her classroom.

Snowy Fun
We had a great time playing in the snow. It doesn't happen that often here in Texas. The girls had a blast making their snowman. Here are a few pics of the King family snow day. We can't wait to get back out there today since school has been canceled. Snow, here we come!

Maddi is growing up
I am so proud of my little Maddi-bear. She woke up completely dry yesterday morning. She woke up around 5:30 am and said that she had to go potty. So I got up and sat her down on the toilet. To my surprise, she went. I was so excited! She's gone on the potty a few times but only because we kept asking her. This time she was really a big girl. To stay dry all night is quite the accomplishment. We are so proud of her. Keep up the good work Maddi-cakes! Woo Hoo!

I will do better this week
Ok, so last week was not as easy as I thought it would be. Just coming off of a 21 day fast had me indulging in a few sweet treats that I probably would have normally avoided. My scale is still out of wack so I'm not quite sure of how I did weight-wise. I will have to weigh myself when I go back to the gym and keep track from their scale until I get a more reliable one myself. Anyway, the plan is to do better this week.
